dipole mobil??

Hi!
After install an expensive new alternator, a second deep charge battery, a electronic insulator, all new special wires and brakers, finally I install my Icom 706 as mobil in my gmc sonoma '95.
What I want a good antena. I'm thinking about force12 sigma 5, vertical dipole... What do your think about?? Crazy idea?? Somebody know any vertical dipole mobil??

You're correct, it's a crazy idea. You'd be better off with just a good vertical like a HiQ or High Sierra.

There is a way to operate mobile using a dipole. Fact is, HiQ makes a dipole that could be adapted. However, the efficiency isn't any better than just the vertical.

The only way to use antennas such as you envisage is to operate as a portable station, then if you are fortunate, you could be the loudest signal on the band !
