Yaesu FT 840 for mobile use?

Has anyone used the FT 840 as a mobile rig? How is the noise performance and any other tidbits of info you have picked up by running mobile? Does the noise blanker on it work? thanks for any input

Mobile receiver performance has a lot more to do with how you put your mobile together, than is does the specifications of the receiver, or its noise blanker.

I see one problem ...

It's rather big for a mobile rig. Mounting would be difficult in just about any modern vehicle. I'm not even sure Yeasu makes a mounting bracket for it.

Something this size would be pretty much on the bottom of my list for mobile rigs for that reason alone.

Of course, the Collins KWM-2 was designed as a portable/mobile rig.
