hi,

looks like my question generated a lot of comments,

one thing for sure not all magmounts are created equal,
magnet quality and performance, etc.

inspecting the magmount and coax for wear and tear is a good idea.  
all those sunny days and ice cold winters
 will damage the coax over the years.

we replace coax for the shack, would be a good idea to do
 the same for the magmounts when that coax gets old.

I'm sure more backyard towers have fallen and caused injurey or property damage than magmounts ever will. Lets ban towers....
