The VX-7R as many owners know has a special plug. Can that plug be purchased separately if I want to make my own cable?

Mouser has the 4 contact 3.5mm phone plugs (and jacks) in their catalog, Kobiconn (formerly DGS Pro Audio) brand, though they lack the threaded seal that I believe the VX-7 (and the VX-5 and -6?) use.

Does Yaesu sell cloning cables w/ the screwdown plug? If so you could cut one in the middle (or at one end) for a pair (or one) molded cable assy -- though this may not be as economical.

Any connector you buy other than the Yaesu OEM will require modification to fit.  The CT-91 adapter is $11, about $15 with shipping, and it fits with the correct seal.   Not worth messing with, in my opinion.  Just buy the CT-91 and be done with it.  Can be used to adapt Icom accessories as well as programming.

$15 with shipping sounds like a pretty good deal. Where can I get it for that price?

Nevermind, sorry, I found one on HRO and Universal within that price range.

Thanks,
Adam
