Well, I would use a taper on the components, so that as the spring pulls them together it removes the play between the top and bottom sections.

I would also use a stronger spring than the QD-2 has, and maybe a rotating collar to retract the pins.

Of course, all of this adds to manufacturing expense, it might easily add 10c to the manufacturing costs...

The Hustler QD-2 is for a whip not a screw driver antenna.Buy Charlie's giant quick disconnect at HI-Q antennas.This is very well made stuff.Steve-73
