I found some 2" copper pipe at a Home Depot. How hard would it be to make a lower mast for a Tarheel out of the pipe? It appears that the only difference between just a piece of tubing and the lower mast is the long strip of metal that keeps the coil from turning. This can be created with a long piece of copper or brass square stock soldered to the copper pipe. It the pipe flared to accept the finger stock? I would really like to replace the lower mast with polished and clear coated copper. I think it would look Hamtastic.
