Where can I find a picture or diagram for my vehicle showing what space is occupied by inflated airbags?

I have a 96 Grand Cherokee. Repair Manual is vague on it.

Virtually the whole dash board. Here is a shortcut to a movie from the NHTSA: http://www.k0bg.com/images/safety/passairbag.wmv

This is not a Jeep, but is representative of most larger cars.

In some cases, the amount of dash space the SRS takes depends on where in the dash it's mounted. In most smaller cars, the bag pops out of the top of the dash. On larger ones, from the front. Some, like the Hyundai are mounted behind, and the dash splits apart.

Side bags pop out from the A pillar, from the top of the door frame, or up from the shoulder of the door. At least one model has the pop out of the side of the seat.

It should be obvious that mounting a mobile radio in a modern vehicle does take some understanding of what location circumvents collision from the various SRS devices. Unfortunately, the peril is often ignored.
