Why not just get a flat steel plate and bolt it to the top of the bed, extending out past the tonneau cover? I am doing that with my fiberglass shell, and if I take the shell off, I don't have to remove a thing. Just need to trim the seal a bit on the cover, and good to go.

I was going to write what Lon did about the tonneau not having the physical strength to handle the stress and load.

I think I would be willing to compromise a bit more at the present time and not drill and enhance the cover and place the antenna similar to what Lon did.... perhaps sometime in the future with a new truck I will change things up.  I tend to keep my trucks for 12-15 years though so it could be sometime to come Smiley

Thanks,

Alan / K0BG,
What do you think of mounting the antenna on the corner of the hood drivers side compared to the hitch or coming off the hitch to the back corner of the pickup bed?

Thanks,
Walter
