Antenna Slection

I have a 05 Dodge truck and would like to mount an antenna on it.
The radio Im using is a tri band handheld for now.
Plans are to go with a dual band mobile later.
I am leaning towards putting the mount on the hood as close to the cab as I can.
The reason mounting on the hood instead of the roof is because of the height of the vehicle.
Im thinking about a NMO mount antenna with either a Larson or a Comet SBB 224 NMO.
Which would be the beter choice?

There is but one choice if you want long life and reliability, and that's a Larsen NMO2/70BK.

Whatever you do, don't compare gain figures as they're almost meaningless in the face of advertising hype, especially with the imports in general, and Comet specifically.

The Larsen at only 32inches high is by far the best antenna of that size and type.

I use my Larsen NMO270BK on my roof mount when I will be traveling to the fringe areas.

But I find that my Comet B10-NMO at only 12 inches
on the roof works well enough on both bands for local
travel.
