Clubs in the Dallas TX area?

I may be relocating to the Dallas (Collin County) area.  Does anyone have information on clubs in that area?  Thanks and 73!  Tad, K3TD

Hello Tad.

Sorry for the delay in responding, us Texans pride ourselves on our hospitality.

There are several active clubs in the DFW (Dallas/Ft. Worth) area.
The DARC (Dallas Amateur Radio Club) is probably the largest & has one of the friendliest repeaters for new folks and visitors.

Thanks, Jim!  Prior to my time in Boston I was in Atlanta for eight years, so I think the drawl will come back naturally ... as the saying goes - I wasn't born in Texas but I'm getting there as fast as I can!

I will look you up on one of the repeaters when I get there.  Thank you for the links.  Can I find any 10 and/or 6 meter (SSB or FM) activity in the area?  I work a lot of 10/6 SSB mobile from my Durango.

If you are going to be in the N.E. part of Dallas County there is the Garland Amateur Radio Club which meets on the 4th Monday of the month at 7:30pm. The GARC Repeaters are 146.660 and 442.700 and the webpage is located at http://www.qsl.net/garc

The MARS (Metrocrest Amateur Radio Society) will conduct a

special  VE test and upgrade session for Ham Licenses at the following location

on Feb. 24th, 2007. If you would like to take a ham test or you have CSCE and

want to upgrade ASAP, please register and plan on attending our VE Session(s).

 

We have seating for up to 150 people, BUT

we need to know who is planning on attending.

 

Door prize(s)… Screwdriver Antenna for new hams.., Refreshments.

Also visit our  Sat. morning breakfast / coffee prior to VE Session

at the Whataburger, 190 (Bush) and Old Denton next to the NTB

and Walmart in Carrollton. Breakfast from 8:00 AM (Free Senior Coffee).

We meet at this Whataburger every Saturday Morning. Same time and same place.

No code upgrade.... Picture ID, $14.00, Copy of FCC License to submit with application, Original and copy of CSCE.

This copy will be submitted with your application. The original must be available for inspection.

 

Testing.... Picture ID, $14.00, copy of FCC license if you have an Amateur License, copy and original of any CSCE's that

might apply for upgrade.
