During a QSO with Ed, KE6VRK, on 9-3-08, I mentioned the subject of the singles' club which I've been trying to start, and then turned to the possibility of starting a club for hams who are avid Mac users, but are stumped by a lack of available software, as well as a discouraging attitude from many hams who run Windows for on-the-air data.

Well, Ed said he was thinking about just that same thing recently. Mind you, he's in the computer service business, and he started to recount all his horror stories re using Windows Vista for hamming, and that he's been searching the web for just about every package of Mac-compatible data software he could find, or writing a few he couldn't find. So I told him about this forum, that he should run the club idea up the flagpole and see if anybody salutes... I'm going to send him the url, hopefully he'll start posting here within a week, and reassure all our fellow Mac users that their data QSOs are not just a pipe dream. Ed wants to test the new club on 6m, if he can get enough hams in on it.

BTW bringing together a new ham club is MUCH easier than starting a singles club in Los Angeles, but the organizational skills I gained from past association with the Baldwin Hills ARC and others have really given me a head start!

I ditched Winblows nearly 10 years ago. Never looked back. I'll follow this thread...

Thanks for your interest. I'll definitely let KE6VRK know he's not alone in his venture the next time I get a chance to QSO with him.

I checked with KE6VRK a few days ago, and he says he's waiting for a reply from NI5V about possibly grandfathering machamradio.com into a new site of his own.
