I have an icom746 and its being having a little proble the meter does not reach the full scale on power , hoever theradio power is ok cheked it out with a external meter, the meter just reach to +40 but does not go all the way to +60 or 100% in power , send it to ciom twice and got back the same way and they said it works jsut fine for them so no idea if anybody had similar problem before.

Sounds like the 746 may be cutting back on power to protect itself from high SWR. My 746 starts to cut back at 1:1.5. You may want to check your SWR with a very good SWR meter.

What mode are you doing this in? It must be a constant carrier mode such as CW (with the key down) or FM.

Trying to check power output on SSB requires a peak-reading SWR/Power meter.
