My TS-430S has developed an audio problem. It receives fine for a little while (sometimes as much as 40 seconds or more) then cuts out for a few seconds or up to a minute or more, then comes back on and so on. When I key the mike for a split second the audio comes back on but then the cycling starts again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Some of the relays in the TS-430 have been known to get dirty or contaminated over time.  I would suspect that is the problem.  Kenwood used to have a service bulletin about it on their website.

Can't help you further since I sold the TS430 I owned about 2 mo ago.  Good luck.

Thanks!! That seemed to solve the problem. I totally cleaned it while it was apart as well.
Thanks again

Hi Al,
Some TS 430s are missing a "wetting" resistor which was put into the rig to feed a small current through the receive relay contacts and prevent the oxidation from forming. You'll have to check the service manual for particulars.
