Buffalo Bore makes a large game hunting cartridges in .44 Magnum which will break down any animal up to 1,000 lbs. It is made of a hard linotype lead alloy which would make quick work of the VX-170's case.

Everyone has noticed, haven't you, that Mr. Hope hasn't posted anything since his original post.

A smoking section in a restaurant makes as much sense as a peeing section in a swimming pool.

The only legitimate use of a "modified" Amateur Radio is current participation in MARS, and the MARS organization will be able to provide the modification information upon request or refer a person to the manufacturer, who will provide the mod information upon presenting them with a copy of their MARS authorization.  Simple.  Concise.  Legal.  No need to ask here or anywhere else on the Internet.

IF you have an appropriate license for operation on the business band or another not amateur band the mod is rather easy.  Google on mods dk, they have mods for every HT anyone ever heard of. And they do have that mod for the  VX 170.  If you don't have the appropriate license then forget the whole idea.
