I have just connected up my new Heil PR40 and to my frustration there seems to be RF getting into my transmission.

Previously RF has never been a problem.

Since discovering the issue I have disconnected the rig from all other peripherals and connected it solely to a dummy load and tested.  The noise is still there.

The Mic is connected direct to the rig via the appropriate Heil lead - I am keying the rig with an FS2 footswitch.

I have tried ferrites on the mic lead - no change!

I am wondering if anyone out there has had this issue and if infact I need to feed the Mic through a w2edge or something similar with a noise gate?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Leigh,

I had a similar problem with my Heil PR-780 and new Yaesu FT-2000. Turns out I solved it by disconnecting the jumper from the shield to mic connector body (at the mic connector). This jumper is recommended to reduce RFI but in my case I had better results without the jumper.

It is worth a try!
