I assume that many eham.net users complained that some of the forums take too long to load because of the number of past threads.

However, I don't like the new format.  It only allows us to see a few threads at a time, and the list of threads is over 100 pages long for some forums.  What if I want to skim through old threads that could have useful information but were posted a year ago?

I suggest that eham.net provide an option that allows us to see all the threads on one page while leaving the current format as the default.  The people who just want to see the latest threads have what they want, and the people who want to scan all the topics to see if their questions were answered weeks or months ago have an option available for them.

Thanks, Eham!

I, for one, certainly appreciate the change, particularly for the
Elmers forum.  It now loads in seconds, instead of my having to go
off and do something else and checking occasionally to see if it
has finished.  And I may even be able to log in from home now
(over slow rural phone lines) instead of having to use the faster
machine in the office.

But it is true that there is a wealth of information in the old threads,
so we need to make sure they remain accessible.  Although I have
not tried it, I presume that the SEARCH function will work across
all threads, even those which are not on the present screen.

As I mentioned in my original topic back in May, this wouldn't be
nearly as much of a problem if posts were filed in their appropriate
categories, instead of all jumbled together in Elmers.  However, I
don't presume that anyone at Eham wants to spend the time to
sort them out, so  we are pretty well stuck with what we have.

AG4DG:

If you want to see if certain threads are being responded to, simply "subscribe" to them

I love this change!  Thanks, e-ham!

With my T1 connection at the office, any section takes about one second to load...perfect.

I may even try it at home now, on a 56k POTS line!

I agree!  What eHam's forums need is a setting on the preferences page that sets how many threads you want to see per page, and then a setting to temporarily change it on the board you are viewing while in the forums.
