For the last 4 months I have been running my ICOM IC-718 off a home made slinky dipole with a 1:1 balun. 10 meters worked rather well and was the only band I tried. I have no tuner and the MFJ tuner I had was CRAP so it went back. My question is the antenna is a 1:1 balun with 2 slinky's stretched 12' on both sides. Since the antenna is not actually connected to the balun rings I have a 6" wire with an alligator clip on both sides. If I were to make the 6" wire say 6' long and clipped it onto the slinky's at different locations would this possible make the antenna usable on other bands?

Thanks

I'm glad you are seeing the potential. Why not make
some add-ons for other bands as well. Using alligator
clips you can work 10-160 . Experiment! It's what we
HAMs  do.
Good luck and 73 ,
