Which desk mic would complement the Yaesu FT-897D.  Right now I do mostly FM repeater work, but Eventually some HF SSB work.
  Thanks for the input!

I use the  Heil HM-10-DUAL with good reports on my audio.

Also check out the MFJ-297. I like mine and it even has a switch for SSB/FM to select different audio responses. You have to order the cable seperately for your radio, but it is plug and play.

We did some testing, the MD-100 sounded better than stock, and also the MD-200.  I get great reports on mine.

I use the Yaesu MD-100 and have had NO problems with the mic and no one telling me I sound terrible on the air.  Nothing but great sounds, told I sound just like I am in the same room.

Good luck & 73's

I use the Heil HC5 element. Sounds great but don't use the DSP EQ in the radio, it sounds like c..p

Got to go with the MD-100 also.  I have it connected to my FT-897D and also use it with my FT-890.  Great signal and audio reports inspite of indoor antenna limitations.
