Hi,  I'm wondering if anyone knows of a website which shows how to put PL-259's on LMR-400. (hopefully with photos)  I've only found photos of the crimp ons.

Thanks in advance.

I install PL-259s on LMR-400 the same way I install them on RG-213.

There's a small difference between LMR400 and RG-213, in that the LMR400 has an aluminized mylar foil shield that covers 100% of the dielectric, and over that is the braid.  The RG-213 doesn't have the foil.

For soldering on a conventional PL-259, that doesn't matter because you can only solder to the braid!

Just leave the foil in place, under the braid, and be sure when trimming the end of the cable, you've made a clean cut through the braid, foil and dielectric foam all at the same time using a very sharp cutting blade (I use a single-edged razor blade, and use a new one for each cut -- they're throwaways that only cost 9 cents each in bulk).
