I am seeking recommendations for a desk mic to use with my Yaseu 7800R. I am doing some part-time 'Net Control' duties and the hand mike is not very user-friendly for that purpose.

Any equipment recommendations/evaluations will be greatly appreciated!

I don't know about any connector issues but Yaesu does make the MD-100 desk mic which I use on an FT-847 and works fine.  IRRC your radio has a 6 conductor cord.

Ask your dealer?

Yaesu have a option they call MEK-2 (at least here in Sweden) that you can plug in a 8pol Yaesu wired microphone into, and the other end have a modular that fit directly in to 7800, 8800 and 8900.
In the same time it works like a extensions cabel.
Otherwise you can build your own adapter.
Good luck anyway!
(sorry about the bad spelling)
