Has anyone tried to use or modify an Antron 99 /  Solarcon 11 meter antenna (without the ground plane kit) to work on 6 meters?

Thanks

Hello:

Yes the A99 will tune and load up for 6 meters.  You will make some contacts if the band is wide open.  Does it radiate and receive well just because you can get it to load up on 6 meters???....NO.  I would suggest that you use a simple wire dipole or J-pole for the six meter band and I think you would have better results.  There are many wire/jpole/delta loop/beam antenna ideas on the web here so search out and I think you would be better off with a seperate antenna for 6 meters and they really take very little room and are cheap to build.  Here is just a couple examples......73 de KB9UMT Don
