I recently decided to restore my well-used Bencher ST-1 single lever keyer paddle. I sent an e-mail via the Bencher web site, and got a very quick response to my regular e-mail address. I responded from my e-mail account, waited a few days, but did not receive a response.
I sent a second e-mail from the Bencher web site, and again received a quick response, with a good bit of information. Clearly the ST-1 is not as popular as the BY-1 dual lever paddle ("iambic" paddle), because they couldn't provide detailed parts information for the ST-1. I was given the option to order via e-mail or phone.
Because the parts info I received was not specific to the ST-1, and because the ST-1 is still in production, I choose to call. I got full and complete information via phone, had a very enjoyable conversation with the Bencher representative, and got exactly what I needed within a few days.
All in all, I highly recommend Bencher. The ST-1 is a great paddle, especially if you have any problems with carpel-tunnel, or similar issues (single lever paddles are very forgiving). Bencher has a bit of a small-business air about them, but that's good. I felt like I got personal service, rather than being just customer #3647892. HOWEVER, I suggest using their web page to send e-mail. E-mail sent from a private account may not be read.
