Author Topic: Mobile antenna mount for van  (Read 2676 times)

After years of HF only ops I finally succumbed to the VHF bug and just picked up an Icom IC-2800. I have a Aerostar (extended) van and I'm needing some ideas how to mount the antenna.

My 'problem' is my carport... The van top only clears the roof by about 6-8".  This (I think) prevents me from considering a mid-roof/luggage rack mount and I'm thus thinking of using a trunk/lip mount, placing the antenna at the rear on the back cargo door (the idea being I just won't pull the van all the way in the carport).

As I'm brand new to mobile ops I'm sure I'm probably overlooking other options. Any ideas/suggestions/products I should also consider?
