I just started using a FT920 that I purchased a few weeks ago.  My experience with it is pretty limited, but so far I'm enjoying it greatly.  The recieve seems to be fairly good on HF, and 6M.  I've been using it to work meteor scatter with a simple 2EL moxon at 25 feet.

It performs really well on digital modes running 100 watts and 100% duty cycle.  It doesn't really heat up much at all.

I get decent reports on SSB about the audio.

I haven't used it on CW yet because I still need a key, but the 500hz optional filter, and DSP really clean up the recieved signals.  I haven't used the DSP much on SSB, so I can't comment on the performance on that mode.

The built in tuner works good also.  It does work in RX mode, but you have to enable that by using the rigs menus.

Overall I like the rig, but I still have a lot to learn about it.  $800 seems to be the used price for them these days.  You might be able to find cheaper if it doesn't come with any optional filters.  You can find more information about the rig on this site if you view the product reviews.

Yes, please check out those nets.  I run the WWYN, and would love to have more check ins, and some more activity around the yahoo group.  BTW, I have a Icom IC-765 that I got for $500 last summer, and am loving it!
