Author Topic: laptop keeps bumping me off line?  (Read 270 times)

I recently added a laptop to my ham rig an Icom718. and when I run a contest I keep getting bumped offline. Im running 100watts. tried lowering wattage with no success. any ideas?

Check the power  manager, options or settings, or battery monitor, maybe set to go off at a certain level setting? Also if using a USB to serial port, there are power settings for that device also, and when using CAT or PTT for rig control, the USB port may think it is not being used and shuts down.  Check the USB Hub settings in the Control Panel, Systems area.

You need to isolate the potential RF problems from the computer problems.

Try doing everything the same except actually transmitting - perhaps the problem is in the software, PC settings, etc.

If the problem goes away with removing the RF, only then focus on the RFI aspects.

Whenever I use my HF rig, I get bumped offline on my desktop. Sounds like RF problems probably.
