if you receive an award would you
like the award to be lamenated for
you?  trying to get a reasonable amount of feedback

Not necessary in my opinion. I usually end up encasing them in a picture frame.

Mine are in photo frames.
The nice ones I also have matted.
Not that much extra but looks 10x better.
Look at the big, chain picture framing places (like Micheal's)
who often have "Buy one get one free" sales.

PS: If you already *have* lamentated an awrd, or spilled
something on it or whatever, don't fret. You can get them replaced
by the issuing agency (Well, I know CQ Contesting does,
and the ARRL, for a hefty $15/ea fee.)
