Lot's of good posts here.
There's a big difference between operating PSK31 and high speed CW.
Most high speed CW operators copy in their heads, which requires the
patient cultivation of an acquired skill.
Not so with PSK31. Install the software, get it to run, youse a member
of the club.
Years ago (think several are still around), there was a CW group called
the 'Chick Fat Operators'. This was a "by invitation only" high speed CW
club. They copied high speed morse by ear, but mostly sent using a
keyboard. Several of them were capable of copying in excess of 80 wpm
by ear. Is that not "real" CW?
Others have reverted to using a keyboard when they develop arthritis or
some other debilitating condition. That could be you or I some day.
The ways of sending morse include
double speed ("cootie") key
paddle + electronic keyer (single or double lever)
Please take time to learn about all of them, and don't belittle those who
have made other choices than you.
