I use SAM callsign database to print my address labels with an Okidata tractor feed printer. When I went from Win 98SE to XP my wait time to print a label was 30 seconds. With the changes made below the time dropped to 6 seconds. If you need to do the mod and are uncomfortable with doing it, drop me an e-mail. This is info passed on to me and it works.

If you are experiencing slow printing for DOS programs with Windows2000
Go Start | Run | Regedit

Click Control
Go to the bottom of this part of the list and click WOW

You can thank Microsoft.  With XP, they provided only minimal support for parallel port printers.  They want everyone to buy new USB peripherals, with the requisite software drivers that become corrupted on a regular basis.

(If at first you don't succeed, uninstall and reinstall the drivers.)
