Had my relatively new 510EX snap on the part of the mast that is plastic (only about a 1 inch piece).  Anyone made similar repairs?  Antenna seems fine other than this "stability" problem.

That's its biggest problem; lack of sturdiness!

Based on my experience, about all you can do is replace it. Buying parts for Maldol, Comet, or Diamond antennas is an act of futility.

I've taken a multi-tester and checked continuity of the base through to the antenna and it seems fine.  I've currently taken about a 1.25 inch length of 3/4 inch pvc and am using as a "splint" to provide stability.  I've then taken "super weld" glue and filled the cavity inside the "splint" and am allowing that to fully dry and form what I hope to be more support.  We'll see what happens when it drys and I check it for SWR.
