I would like to know how to clean the faceplate keys on an FT857.

I use a Q-tip with a bit of Windex on it.

I would start with a dry, soft bristled toothbrush to clean any gunk from the spaces where the keys go into the front panel. Pull the knobs off and clean the grooves in the knob and the area behind where the knob goes. Then go with the Windex and cotton swab.

For greasy fingerprints or dirt that is resistant to the Windex I would use an alcohol prep pad on specific spots. Do not drench the front panel with the prep-pad, you are only trying to clean up the really dirty spots.

I restore boat-anchors for a hobby and these techniques work on all but the worst cases.
