I am looking for an affordable C compiler to do some radio control programming on my XP box.  I need something that will talk to the USB ports.  Any suggestions or comments welcome.

Both of these are free:

Microsoft's Visual C# is available for free download from the Microsoft site.

Rather than DevC++ try wxDevC++.

http://wxdsgn.sourceforge.net/

It comes with wxWidgets (used to be wxWindows) so you have a lot of predefined dialogs and such to play with.

I've used gcc for a number of years.  Several free widget libraries  are available and, a big plus if you get bored easily - there are a half dozen other language addins available.
