I'm reposting this here from the Elmer's forum because it seems more appropriate here. So far I've found that I can't reboot or re-dump the data as I can't turn it on at all. The batteries are OK. It was working before I messed with the Windows program and a programming cable with a serial-to-usb adapter. Any help or thoughts will be appreciated.

------------------------------------------------------

I bought a Yaesu VX-1R at a good price and started to use software to program it and bricked the unit... won't even turn on (battery or wall unit powered).

Anyone have any experience with these little HTs? Can they be opened and perhaps wipe the memory or revert it to default without being able to turn it on?

I fear I have wasted (destroyed) $80. Not a big deal, but I look at the little guy sitting in a corner of my drawer and I'd really like to be able to resuscitate it.
