While the Better RF Company makes decent products for the ICOM 7000, my customer service experience has been an ongoing nightmare!!!
I purchased the BetterRF Tune Control module. Ordering was easy, shipping was very quick. When I received the hardware, I read all the instructions, then proceeded to install per the clear (and very easy instructions.) When I tried pressing the tune button, the tune control module did not put the radio into RTTY mode. I checked all connections and tried again. It still failed. I then contacted Gerry at Better RF to help troubleshoot.
We confirmed that I had everything set up properly. I hung up the call, tried again, and it still failed. I then called him back a last time to pick his brain, and he was a bit more irritated this time, telling me that these things work, they don't break, and keep trying.
I requested he refund me my money on this broken unit, and he responded with: "...It is obvious to me you have not spent time with the instructions. Sorry, I will not exchange the unit until you convince me you read and understand"
The next morning, I drive to HRO and buy a new BetterRF Tune Control from them. Head to the parking lot, and had it installed in 30 seconds. This unit worked.
I called Gerry from the car to tell him and he said, "Send me the broken unit, and I'll refund your credit card."
I shipped it out. It's been over 3 weeks. NO REFUND PROVIDED. I've called him several times. I've emailed him several times and there has been NO RESPONSE.
I've had to open a complaint with my credit card company. Perhaps they can get the money back from him.
Again, great products. Horrible customer service!!!
