Has anyone found a computer interface cable for the FT-8800 that uses a USB connector instead of a DB9 connector? I have a newer laptop and dont really want to do an adaptor as well as the cable.

Well, I did find someone on ebay advertising a USB to mini din cable for the FT-8800. It's 19.99 BUT the shipping is 10.00 which brings it up to the cost of RT systems serial-mini cable. But you dont need a serial-USB adaptor.

The seller is kawarad. Anyone have experience with him or this cable?

Actually, the "cable" probably includes an adapter inside one of the connectors already.
Since that price is substantial, have you tried the local Amateur store, or AES, HRO, etc.?
the problem with a USB to RS-232c adapter is that not all work as well as others; on the other hand, a dedicated cable won't be usable for any other purpose.  ubfortunately, it's no longer a "DIY" project.
