I haven't been burned by this guy, but he offers the world for a cheap price and then when you challenge him to provide some sort of credentials or recommendations, he ignores the messages. I have communicated with him several times regarding proving who he is.

What I know is his email account is under "Nick and Stacy Honeybourne"  (nickhoneybourne1@gmail.com). He claims to be from the UK. Specifically, 69 Barrass Lane CV1 4AQ, Coventry, West Midland, UK.

He was offering me an FT-817 with accessories and solar panel for $350, requesting a western-union payment, and holding the shipment at the shipper "First Freight" (http://www.firstflightupdate.co.cc/) until payment had been received. All sorts of alarm bells here. I did a web search for him and found he has come under suspicion on other forums as well.

Unlike the typical scammer, he seems to have a reasonably good command of the English language. He has a small amount of knowledge regarding radio, so it seems, so he may be able to con others by it. But his language seems more American than British.

I wish to reiterate that I do not know for sure than he is a thief or liar. But his communications with me seems to fit the profile. Beware!

The postcode checks out ok, google maps does indeed show it to be barras lane, coventry.

Do you have a callsign for him?

whats the .cc one the end of the freight company? if hes a uk seller then it would normally be a .com or .uk web address

I don't like the payment terms either.

http://www.firstflightupdate.co.cc

.co   Colombia / Commercial networks, same as .com

.cc   Cocos Islands - Keelings

Sounds fishy to me.
Most people thingk Gmail will block you
Internet Provider Adrress. Not quite. Register
dor a Free 30 day trial of "ReadNotify" (yes one word)
software at:

http://www.readnotify.com/

All you have to do is send the guy an email response
with "readnotify" at the end. (DO read the software
instructions first, so you can set it up so he won't see it!)
%90 of the time it WILL give you the GMail IP Address
and Location of the sender AND tell you:
What date & time of each time he opened your email.
The IP Address of anbody who he forwarded it to.
The date and time of every time THEY opened your email.
And mocu, much more.

Update:

Well, the people who helped the guy who got
scammed in THIS caper:
http://forums.qrz.com/showthread.php?t=263391&highlight=custom

have learned that there is a scamming group putting up and
using FAKE "First Flight" website for use in scams.
The websites listed in this and the link I gave above
have both been killed. There is REAL FirstFlight Air Frieght in India.

THey too said that they were selling cheap ham gear from
the UK. But their IP Addresses were traced to Nigeria, surprise, surprise.

Fake "First Flight" would keep asking the buyer for non existant feees to be
paid, such as "Border Agency Fee" "Police Fee" "Customs Fee"
"VAT", etc (Well, VAT is real, but is paid to the UK, not the courier.
ALSO the fake "First Flight" offisers would list a UK APEARING
Phone Number. Starting with Country Code 044, then "702" then xxx-xxxx.
Well, the 702 after the UK Country code is a REDIRECT to a cell phone
in NIgeria.

Lovely people, no?
