A web site I use occasionally is only showing its title and the box above it is empty with a small square in the top left corner with a symbol. What is this, and what is it telling me ?

It indicates that Explorer has not been able to download the graphic for that box from the server. If you are on a corporate system your IT people may have graphics downloads blocked. Otherwise there could be a problem with the server.
