I need a way to connect and disconnect equipment remotely.  Basically switch them on and off is all I need.  I have a computer that I can control remotely, so was thinking some type of switch or relay that can be operated by a computer would be the answer..  The problem is, I am unsure where to find such a device..  Any ideas?

They make IP enabled power switches. You plug the switch into a network, assign it an IP address and connect to it with a web browser. The browser application lets you turn the various recepticals on/off remotely.

Thanks, that solves many headaches..  Another thing is that I would like to be able to open and close contacts for only a half a second or so (like simulated pulse/push button switching). so I'm thinking a remote relay of some sorts may work for this?  This is basically to close the up and down frequency controls (through the mic input) so I can qsy remotely on a transceiver that doesn't interface with a computer directly.

Any ideas on how to fullfill this purpose...

Do a google on n8lp, his website has his LP Remote board.  I use one to control all sorts of things.
