I am wanting to include some gentlemen rules and things to consider for anyone who operates my program, things like field day rules (the ones that stay the same every year) common sense rules (that everyone seems to forget) and a few others.
I'm not sure what you're asking.
"Gentleman rules" are the responsibility of the operator; how can software be involved?
The Field Day rules are available free for the download from ARRL. There's no telling what they'll change from year to year, which makes it important to look only at the rules for this year. Putting the FD rules in the software makes it too easy to miss something unless the software is updated every year.
What, exactly, do you want the software to do besides log and dupe contacts?
btw, I applaud your efforts to make a free, open-source software package for FD. However, please note that there are existing software packages such as N3FJP whose cost is very low (lunch at McD's costs more!).
