Hi All

Can you help?

I have been very active with PSK31 and my FT-450 which is fine.

I have now upgraded to an FT-950, but I cannot get enough Audio to get yellow watterfall.

If I turn up the manual AF gain then I get waterfall but the volume is too loud in the room. Usually the data socket audio is separate from the manual volume control

The Signalink jumpers are set OK (same as FT-450/817)

I have set menu's 051 data out LVL to max.

Could it be the filtering?

I would be most grateful for any advice in setting up this rig for PSK 31

best 73 de

Have you tried using the REC jack as an audio source?

I have the same setup as you.  The af gain has noting to do with the waterfall.  With the volume all the way down, I can vary the waterfall intensity with the Signalink alone.  Start over like it's a fresh install and maybe you'll find the error.

Hi all

thanks for replies

If I turn the AF gain down and Signalink up then no display (waterfall)

to N3JJB I wonder if you would kindly let me know your data menu settings

071, 072, 051, are you set to packet USB or RTTY, or just SSB USB

thanks very much, Alan, G4GQL

What operating system are you using...Windows XP, Windows 7, etc.?
What model of Signalink..SL series, Signal Link USB?

In Windows sound mixer controls you have to set the speaker volume setting to maximum and the wave setting to 50%, if using Windows XP, Windows 7 is a little different.

If you are using the Signalink USB, use the Data connection on the 950.
Menu 051, Data Out Level, on the 950, should be set below 50, try 35 to start with and you should be using the PSK or Data mode on the 950.
You also have to select USB Codec for the soundcard being used in whatever software you are using, if using the Signalink USB.

Hi VE3OYJ

Thanks for the reply, most useful

I have now resolved the problem

As it was a brand new rig, I overlooked the RF/AF ganged control on front panel, the RF gain was turned down, thinking it was AF only.

The info you supplied will be useful in final setting.

Many thanks for all info, everyone.
