I have the 570D (no 6-metres) as my only HF radio and I participate in the three major SSB contests every year (CQWW, ARRL Int'l and WPX).

This is a fine rig for almost everything, but contesting isn't one of its strengths. AGC pumping from strong nearby signals renders it almost useless in crowded band conditions, and the DSP is only audio chain, not IF-based.

I use an Inrad 1.8 kHz filter and it does help somewhat, but I would not and could not recommend the TS-570 for contesting. For day-to-day operating, DXing, ragchewing, etc, it's a fine radio and I will probably keep it for many, many years.
