This will be my first effort in the WPX. With just a plane jane K8 or N8 call, will I have the same success in running staions as say..... Sweeps or CQWW??? Seems like a LOT of club calls in the top 10 of each area.

Although not universal, it's pretty common for the most competitive guys to "borrow" a nice prefix (makes a more interesting contest, IMO).  However, some who have waited too long to secure one, and were therefore "stuck" using their own calls, have commented that they had tremendous success.

Normally being a quasi-unique multiplier gives one an edge, however, in WPX, multipliers are not nearly as important as they are in most contests because there are so many.
