I think Mike got his General, but not sure. Also believe he went into the military after high school. There are several "Michael J. Bailey"'s in the database; I sent a radiogram to one of them, but it wasn't the person I'm looking for.

Mike and I had Burlington Free Press paper routes and used to SWL in his basement, around 4:30 AM, before heading out to deliver papers. He told me he had spoken with Hap Preston, W1VSA, about taking our Novice exams... but my family moved to Pennsylvania and our paths separated in 1957.

A few years ago, from our Adirondack summer camp, I heard W1VSA on the Vermont phone net. I signed in too and was sent off-frequency with Hap, but something went wrong with my rig and we never had a QSO. The following winter he became a SK.
