I've been searching high and low trying to identify the digital mode heard on 14.076. It's musical tones at about 2 tones per second. HRD and FlDigi can't seem to match it to any of their supported modes. Any and all links that I've found to sample audio of digital modes are unaccessable. Can anyone help. Thanks. Scott VE1AFN .>

Sound like JT65. As far as I know HRD and Fldigi can't decode it so you'll need JT65 specific software. There's an article about this mode in this months QST. Also there was a two part series of how to use this mode in a couple of recent issues of CQ.

It's weak signal propagation JT65.  You need software such as Multipsk, WSJT, JT65F to operate.  More at:

http://www.physics.princeton.edu/pulsar/K1JT/

A little bit different than say PSK31 or RTTY.  All you do is send callsigns, signal reports in terms of -number in decibels, e.g., -10 equals -10db, also exchange grid locator and closing QSOs using RRR.  If you want to ragchew, JT65 isn't for rag chewing, just exchange call, signal report, grid loc and done.

Thanks everyone for the replies. It was indeed JT65 that I was hearing. I logged a few stations with JT65-HF. Definitely not a ragchewers mode. Thanks again and 73's.   Scott VE1AFN .>
