HRD and Vista Home premium

I finally found a driver for the prolific chip set for the vista OS.

I am using Vista home premium (same problem with Vista Ultimate but that computer bit the dust)

My problem is when I try to run HRD V4 or V5, I get a blue screen error.

Here is the Technical information:

The problem is the Prolific driver.

The solution is easy....get an adapter with the FTDI chipset. 

HRD and Prolific, especially on Vista/Win7 and even more so with 64-bit Vista/Win7, don't get along well.  A quick check of the HRD Yahoo group will show dozens and dozens of people with the same problem, all solved by switching to an adapter with the FTDI chipset.

It is amazing how many problems people have with this. I left the link for the above adapter, that worked for me on XP and Windows 7. All $25 shipped. No headaches. Stop driving yourself crazy.

BTW, the above adapter is 1 foot long, so you will need a 10ft serial extension. I got one on ebay for like $6 shipped.

Here is a tip to improve the operation of the HRD DM780. HRD is a very busy program demanding of the very best computer.
I found a program called MINIDELUXE that will allow the HRD DM780, log and spots to to run and communicate with out all the overhead of the
overlord programs gobbling up the computer resources.
