A last-minute reminder of the NAQCC sprint coming up tonight.

Tuesday April 12 from 8:30 to 10:30 PM EDT (Wednesday April 13 from 0030Z to
0230Z)

This is a fun one, and good for newcomers. Speeds are in the straight key range and the ops will usually go as slow as you need them to. It is a gentle introduction to CW contesting, but be prepared for some weak signal work. For people who like dabbling in CW contests and normally 'search and pounce', this is a good opportunity to practice holding a frequency - fun for us little pistol stations who can't do that in a big contest.

I hope some folks will read this and give it a try tonight. I'll be there.

That sure was a good time. And although there were some weak signals, I've never heard so many honest S9s from a QRP test before. I worked four non-members, I hope one of them read about it here.

My second NAQCC sprint, and it was a lot of fun. Amazing how much racket a hundred or so QRP stations can make on a band! Heard some great sigs, some really weak ones, and everything in between. A real nice bunch of ops and a great time.

Those two hours just blow by. I wish they'd do a longer one sometimes, say four or six hours.

Just signed up for NAQCC.   Sounds like the kind of thing I need to help learn how to do CW appropriately.  Thanks for pointing this out.

Cheers,

David, they are a great group. Check out their on the air activities and challenges to help motivate you to get on the air. Also, on Sunday evenings they have a slow speed net. Personally I'm only doing their monthly sprints right now but they are (I think) the best CW sprints going. Welcome aboard! Write me if there's anything I can do for ya.
