Hi All
I have a mint TS430s that seems a little tight when turning the VFO knob. This is even when the tension brake screw is fully out. Should I go in and lube the encoder and if so what kind of lube should I use. I have the service manual so hopefully its not to hard to get to it. Thanks

Remove the knob and put 1 drop of sewing machine oil on the shaft and work it in.

Start with a mild penetrating lubricant. But don't spray it on. I usually spray it into a small syringe, and use a dull needle to put a drop or 2 on the shaft. Otherwise, it is likely that the bearings are going, and it would have to be replaced.

That is what I will do and thanks to both you guys.  It still turns smoothly but just not as easy as my old TS430 did.  I just ordered a spare encoder just in case. Been a great help and thanks again.
