I am having an odd Echolink client problem. When I use Skype I loose the ability to transmit with echolink and the only solution is to reboot the computer.

My system, I am using a variant of Ubuntu (Debian) Linux with Echolink running under WINE. I tried to get the native Linux client working; but, I was not able to.

As I stated, I can use Echolink and have made contacts with it. If I bring up Echolink after Skype is running it works fine until I attempt to contact a person in Skype. At that point I loose the ability to “transmit.” Further, the Echolink client frequently just freezes.

This happens even if the communication with the person is a text-only chat in Skype. So, that discounts some odd sound card conflict. Further, other chat clients, such as QQ, do not give this problem.

Are the ports/forwarding setup in your router correctly for both?
Are the COM ports for each setup correctly so as not to corrupt each other?
Maybe try changing your transmit key presses so that the two programs use different keys?

Just some suggestions as I do not use both (only Echolink) nor do I use any Linux variants as of yet.
