Has there ever been a sitting US president or VP that was a ham?
Looking over the celeb lists, I do not see any.

No.
Closest would be a presidential candidate -- Arizona U.S. Senator Barry Goldwater, K7UGA  (SK)

Looks like quite a few politicians have been or are hams.
Would be nice to see a nice big yagi on the roof of the white house. What better way to increase foreign relation?
Imagine that would be a heck of a pileup.

I've heard Betty Ford was an avid CBer?  Supposedly her handle was "First Mamma."  I don't know if it's true or just a rumor though.

I remember seeing a "73 Magazine" published during 1964 election, for sale at a hamfest.
On the cover was a drawing of a big tribander on top of the White House.

I thought it was pretty cool looking, but the seller wanted a ridiculous
price for the magazine, something like $40, and it was not in good condition. Pass.

Curtis LeMay,W6EZV was a general in the United States Air Force and the vice presidential
running mate of American Independent Party candidate George Wallace in 1968.

IIRC, earlier in his career, due to his ham radio activities, he was instrumental in
getting the Air Force to switch over from AM to SSB on HF.

Scroll down on this page;
http://smalldogs2.com/HyannisPort/The_Kennedy_Compound_in_Hyannis_Port,_Massachusetts.html

and you'll what to me looks like a beam and a very tall tower above the Kennedy compound at Hyannis Port. Later pictures show the tower missing.

Bernie ('YO)...
Looks to me like a TV antenna.
Can't see anything that looks like a rotator.
Probably pointed toward Boston.
None of the Kennedy clan is/was a ham.

Thats what I was thinking. For the age, had to be hard to get TV sigs back then.

None that I'm aware of. But Herbert Hoover, Jr was a well-known ham
in California, IIRC.

Not a President, but Maine's last governor, John Baldacci, is KB1NXP.
