A friend of mine just did the mod to his 2000 and we compared mine (without the mod) to his prior to his mod and after and all I have to say is he is going to be doing mine shortly because it made a major difference.  The hiss is not completely gone but now you have to strain to hear it as opposed to it hitting you square in the face.

If you follow the TS2000 Users Group you may have heard about people having what sounds like lightning crashes on the receiver on all bands. They have traced this back to filters that are failing in the TS2000.  You can tell if your radio is doing this by disconnecting the antenna and turn the radio on and see if the static crashes are still there (note: of course do this on a day when you have no lightning).  If it is still there you will need to replace the bad filter, it seems to effect one of the three in the radio.  Early versions of the TS-2000 seem to be immune to this or they haven't been as many reported.

One of the most disappointing things about reading theses mod threads is when you see someone write " the factory would have done it in the first place! " This goes against the very origin of " Amateur Radio ", hence we have more appliance operators than HAMS. Please someone " deliver us from ??
