I am curious about how people set up their cw filters with a 746. Since it can have both a 9mhz and a 455khz IF filter, is it better to have a wide (500hz) filter on the 9mhz IF and then a narrow (250hz) filter on the 455khz IF,....... or should it be the other way round?

In my opinion,".. the other way round..." That means 250 hz filter at 9 MHz IF and 500 at 455 KHz IF.
